Exploring New Worlds

Its been a while since I posted been a very busy few months, time really does seem to fly.

There has been alot of hype recently about Sansar Linden Labs new platform for creating social VR Experiences.
"Sansar is our new platform for creating social VR experiences. Sansar will democratize VR as a creative medium, making it easy for people to create, share, and  sell their own social VR experiences"

Well that is the blurb so what is it all about. Sansar "offers anyone with a compatible headset or PC the ability to visit VR experiences, mingle with others, as well as create their own virtual games and locations."

  • You cannot use a pc & keyboard in Sansar - Wrong! it is possible to access use and create in Sansar with an pc and keyboard. However it is very different using a virtual headset, so I am told.
  • Well its not Secondlife you cant do anything there yet - NO its not Secondlife but it was never supposed to be.

It is a totally new platform (there are other similar ones) Is this the future maybe it is maybe its not But time marches on and if you dont march with it you will stagnate, But if you choose to remain where you are then that is ok too each to his own. But for me I am all for progress.

So, after reading a few blogs and watching a few videos I took the plunge and went and had a look.

  • Download Sansar programme-First off I was thrilled to find my older pc and graphics card can handle it well. Big Plus from me.
  • Now to create an account- oh decisions go with the old or create a new. They do advise to choose carefully because you are unable to change yr name later. "We highly encourage you to choose your Avatar Name and Avatar ID carefully because the Name and ID are finalized once you hit the Next button" OK I will stick with my current name.
  • Next choose your avatar-at this time there is limited choice, but you can change your appearance slightly. Its quite funny to see everyone looking the same
  • Choose where you wish to login - I choose RUNE by Maxwell Graff: I remembered Maxwell from Secondlife and love his works.
  • Login - this does take a while and the music played can be annoying
  • Wow all i can say is wow, RUNE is everything I had hoped, the lighting in Sansar is incredible, Maxwell had built a fantastic Experience.

Now I just gotta work out how to move....

There is a good help page on the Sansar Site. https://help.sansar.com/hc/en-us I would advise you to take a look at this I do find I often refer back to it.

Ok that is it for now, Will update this as and when i get around, but i will say from what I can see its stunning and the experiences i have visited so far are amazing. Its also comforting to see several familiar creators from Secondlife already there. Oh and they have the marketplace up and running and you are able to purchase stuff.. Great stuff and yes there are quite a few freebies on the marketplace to get you started.

Sansar you are a world of new possibilities !!

Time Flies!

Someone recently said to me that  I hadn't posted on my blog for ages. I think they threatened to remove me from their blog list.  You know who you are!

Life has been mad busy as usual in all worlds. Charlesworth Estates continues to evolve. I am not sure it will ever be done. Its a great place and I am very proud of it. The main office is now located at Summer Way the entrance to the estate. Here you will find all the details of our land available. Pathways take you to various parts of the estate, grab a horse from Poppets Horses over on Yukon, or get a boat and go explore. We now have many residential regions all connected to allow for sailing and flying. There is direct access to the Iz straits. I am delighted that people choose to live and spend their virtual time with us. I must be getting something right...

The Lanes the upscale shopping experience now has many of the finest creators on the grid. Here you will find great shoes, superb clothing, home items, beach wear and even some fantastic Mens stores. YES I said Mens stores.  We also have three artists show casing their works at Artists Alley. Laneys Coffee shop is right on the harbour with hot coffee and views to die for.  Clare Island our Irish sim is now home to iHomes and Bohemian, smaller locations for Ooh La La & Posh beachwear, and many other eclectic stores where you will find everything for make your virtual home just that little bit better.

So that is a brief rundown of what I have been up to over the previous few months. Oh yes and there is something called rl... which I must head back to. Until next time my friend....

The Duckpond

Its raining cats and dogs! translates to "its raining alot" - oh it must be August another famous British Summer.  We Brits really do have some superb sayings, which we mainly refer to as Slang.

Bobs your uncle - which translates as "there you go" Now obviously bob isnt your uncle but rest assured he was someones.
Bugger off - translates to "Go away" thats the nice version there are several others
Chin Wag - translates to "have a chat", that is one of the more obvious ones
Hows your father - now this is interesting, it is a euphemism for " Sex"

So do be careful dear friends when you ask a British person "hows your father" you really do not know what your asking. A smack would  most likely offend you...

Inworldz have just introduced their 2x2 regions, which really are 4 sims each with 12k prims. More details can be found here. Inworldz  This has allowed many in world to increase their land holdings making for more space to build on. Thanks to this policy I am delighted to introduce "The Duckpond". Most will know that my Estate has been built to the English Countryside theme unique to Inworldz. England is full of quaint villages of elegant cottages. Villages with the traditional Duckpond at its heart next to the finest of English Country pubs.

Quintessentially English..

Definition of quintessential in English: adjective
"Representing the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class"

As most of you know I am British and extremely proud of the fact. I really do celebrate the best of what Britain has to offer. From Fish and chips, Roast dinners, queueing, apologising, taking tea, having a sense of humour, and a  few we would rather forget, Eddie the Eagle, Vindaloo(the song not the curry) well maybe the curry too, and finally Misspelt graffiti... If you do not get the last one it would indicate your probably from my part of the world.

I am delighted to say Charlesworth Estates is coming together wonderfully. This has been possible due to Inworldz releasing 2x2 regions. The Estate is set on an English theme with all regions following this. It is possible to sail, fly, ride or walk the entire estate. An English country path links most of the regions where you can wander and and explore every view being a photographers dream.

LovingInworldz 2 x 2

Hello Again.
Inworldz has recently started offering 2 x  regions. Suffice to say you get 4 full size regions with 12k prims each for a monthly sum of $85. The detailed explanation of them can be found at;    Inworldz

This has provided me with an opportunity to rework the estate. My profile says I have now been here for 1496 days (over 4 yrs). So its about time. Inworldz for me has just really evolved from an idea, into an Estate of over 30 sims. Each is themed around the English Countryside, my home. Its a photographers dream who knows whats round the next corner. You are welcome to sail, fly, ride or walk and take your time dont miss anything.

Our new Estate office is stunning another winner from Veronika Garzo. I really do love this place.
Why dont you take a trip over to Inworldz take a look around at how far we have come. I am sure you, like I will love it and choose to make it your home.

I know its been a while BUT...

Ok so its been a while, frantic busy in all worlds.  In Virtual Worlds folks come and go. I guess its like that in real life also. It seems to be the *want it now generation* Longevity would appear to be a thing of the past. I am glad to say I am a *stayer* ( some would say for too long sometimes) I hate quitting with a job half done so lets dig our heels in and get it done.

So to business.
We have been working on a new project for sometime now Inworldz. The Lanes! As usual this is a unique build from Veronika Garzo. I have to say Veronika never ceases to amaze with the quality of her builds. One of the joys I have in Virtual Worldz is having an idea and watch someone turn that into reality. To quote Veronika,

"The creation of The Lanes sim has been somewhat organic and evolutionary in nature.  It was effectively, borne of free flowing ideas from both Cherry Charlesworth and myself and it grew, piece by piece, section by section into what I hope is a natural and flowing layout, reminiscent of real streets, in a real town. The textures of sandstone, brick and cobble tones have been created specifically and uniquely for this build. They are tonal and soft, designed to compliment each other and to run seamlessly from building to building. without stark contrast"

We also have our own website for it which sets it apart from your usual stuff. More details on this later.

My heartfelt thanks to Nika for persevering and finding a way to translate what is in my head into these stunning unique places.
